I am a San Francisco-based nature photographer. Captured by Light is my business.
Captured by Light has two meanings for me. One is the technical process of creating a photograph. Photography is writing or drawing with light. I use a camera to capture light and record it as digital information. That recorded information is then developed with software. The end result is an artistic impression of the interplay between light and subject.
Captured by Light also refers to the fascination I have with different qualities of light. From star light to moon light, blue hour to golden hour, overcast to direct, side to back, there are so many types of light that each have their own beauty.
My photographic process is assessing a naturally occurring scene in whatever light conditions exist. I make decisions about the subject and composition and integrate my thoughts, impressions, or feelings into the final image. I like to find the balance between realism and artistic interpretation. My published images represent how I experienced the scenes.
